Cactus Varieties include "Texas Prickly Pear, Desert Rose(Opuntia engelmannii)", "Beaver Tail" (Opuntia basilaris). I love going to the Desert in spring and if it has had a good rainfall, the whole landscape comes alive with wonderful flowering plants. Usually go in late April too early May, for best viewing. Colors range from soft yellows to vibrant yellow, coral, shades of red, and lavender, to orange.
